Easy Mother’s Day Gift Idea for Grandma

in Gift for Grandmother, Single or Widowed Moms

Don’t forget your grandmother.  She is an important part of the family.

One of the best Mother’s Day gift ideas for grandma is to create a blooming bulb bowl.  It is easy, quick and will last for several months.

Begin with a glass bowl or vase with a wide mouth.  They can be purchased at almost any discount store for a few dollars.  The container does not have to be expensive but it should be clear glass.

Fill the bowl with small rocks or pebbles up to about an inch from the opening.  The rocks or pebbles can be found in the craft section of many stores or in the department that sells fish.  Do not buy the smallest rocks, but look for pebbles that are rounded and about an inch in diameter.

Purchase a bag of flower bulbs.  Daffodil bulbs or tulip bulbs are ideal.  Place the bulbs in the container so about a third of the bulb is embedded in the pebbles.

When you deliver the container to grandma just add water, up to the base of the bulbs.  Place the container on a window sill or a table close enough to a window so the container and bulbs get plenty of light.

Be sure to remind grandma to keep the bowl filled with water, up to the base of the flower bulbs.  Over the next couple of months your grandmother will have blooms that will last far longer than a bouquet of cut flowers.

Of course, when these bulbs have finished blooming you can replace the grown flowers with new bulbs so grandma will have blooms year round.
