Moms dedicate themselves to their children. They make sacrifices for their children that all too often go unnoticed and certainly are under appreciated.
For moms who have raised their children and find themselves alone due to divorce or perhaps are now widowed, we have noticed that they have developed a pattern of sacrifice in many cases. Just take a walk through this mom’s house or apartment. If there is one thing that is most often noticed it is that the lady who gave everything to her children often ignores herself.
I can remember walking into my mother’s bedroom several years after I had left home. There was nothing special about it. The furniture was the same as it had been when I lived at home. The furniture arrangement was the same. The room was bland, non-descript, Mom’s room just as it had always been.
For Mother’s Day the best gift idea I could think of my mom was a new bedding ensemble. I knew she liked blue so I started out with blue sheets, found complementary pillowcases and a comforter.
If your mom has not pampered herself in the past few years, why not recreate her bedroom into a place of restful peace instead of just a place to sleep. We all know that our moms do not take time for themselves or invest in themselves.
Do not just give your mom sheets and accessories. Make up her bed. Add the comforter to the foot of the bed. Decorate her room for her. If you don’t do it for her chances are she will say thank you and “save” the gift for another day. It’s the curse of mother’s. They always “save” everything almost as if they do not feel that they deserve it. We know that she deserves more than we will ever be able to give back.
This Mother’s Day is the opportunity to create a special space for your mom.
